First sailor to recover from COVID-19 leaves IDH

Colombo (News 1st); A sailor attached to the Sri Lanka Navy who was under treatment at the Infectious Diseases Hospital was discharged on Sunday as he was back to full recovery.

The sailor was admitted to IDH on the 25th of April upon confirmation of testing positive to the coronavirus.

According to a statement published on the Sri Lanka Navy website, the sailor tested positive to coronavirus by PCR test conducted at the Rathnapura hospital on the 25th of April 2020.

Later, on the same day, he was directed to IDH hospital for treatment and while under treatment was subject to 3 PCR tests.

Since all test results confirmed the patient was negative for coronavirus, he was discharged on 03rd May 2020.

Further, he will be kept under quarantine for another 14 days following the healthcare instructions.

His family members are also undergoing a quarantine process at the Naval Quarantine Center in Boossa.
