PCR Testing to be conducted at Welisara Navy Camp today

COLOMBO (News 1st): PCR tests will be conducted at the Welisara Navy Camp on Saturday (25th April). "Around 400 PCR tests are scheduled to be conducted at the Welisara Navy Camp today," said Director General of Health Services, Dr. Anil Jasinghe. 30 Sri Lanka Navy Sailors attached to the Welisara Navy camp tested positive for the Coronavirus, yesterday. According to Dr. Anil Jasinghe said in total 65 Navy Personnel attached to the Welisara Navy Camp have contracted the virus. The Welisara Navy Camp is currently declared isolated while steps are underway to recall all naval personnel who went on leave, back to the base. "Given the present situation, Sri Lanka Naval personnel are trained to work with COVID-19 patients," said Dr. Jasinghe further adding that health authorities are assisting them to control the spread of the virus. Dr. Jashinghe emphasized that although the spread of COVID-19 among Naval personnel does not have any impact on the spread of COVID-19 in the society, naval personnel contracting the virus is regrettable and therefore, all relevant measures will be taken to control the spread among Navy personnel.
