Special program to bring back Sri Lankan students stranded overseas

Colombo (News 1st); A special program will commence today to bring back Sri Lankan students stranded overseas, following the closure of airports in the country. Phase One of the program would see Sri Lankan students in SAARC countries being brought back to the country. Accordingly, 115 Sri Lankan students trapped in Pakistan would be brought to the country on a special flight, said the Operations Director of Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited. In addition, 102 Sri Lankan students trapped in India would also be brought back to the country in the same manner. Operations Director of Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited Shehan Sumanasekara said after the students are brought back to Sri Lanka, they would be quarantined according to accepted standards. In addition, plans are in place to bring back Sri Lankan students trapped in other countries, which include Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and Russia.
