Strategic Mechanism to be implemented for Agricultural products- President

The meeting chaired by the President focused on preparing a mechanism to purchase agriculture products, as well as the storage and distribution of agriculture produce. The President outlined the importance of establishing a corporation to purchase vegetables similar to the Ceylon Fisheries Corporation was also discussed during the meeting. "We are inviting employees to join local industries. We have informed those in the apparel industry to diversify their services by joining various industries such as agriculture," President Gotabaya Rajapaska said. "We should take steps to ensure that the lives of the people are restored to normalcy by discussing about it and implementing the relevant initiatives," he said. The District Secretaries further pointed out that given the prevailing situation, many customers opt to purchase goods directly from the farmer which has proved to be a success.
