Security in Suduwella, Ja-Ela tightened after 06 test positive for COVID-19

Colombo (News 1st) ;  Security in Suduwella, Ja-Ela was tightened after 06 people from the area tested positive for the corona virus. It is reported, some of them are drug addicts and they had associated a large number of people. Last week, one person tested positive for COVID-19 and those who had contact with him were instructed to move in to self quarantine by authorities. However, as they failed to comply with the instructions and evaded police, the group of 28 was arrested following a search operation. The group was moved to the Oluvil Quarantine Facility operated by the Sri Lanka Navy and 06 of them tested positive for COVID-19. Health Officials said the first COVID-19 case detected from Ja-Ela comes from an area known as Swarna Hansawila in Suduwella and this person had closely associated the COVID-19 victim from Maradana. The 06 people who tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday are friends of the first person to test positive for the virus in Suduwella. The Suduwella area in Ja-Ela is home to approximately 6000 people. 40 residents from Palis Perera Mawatha in Ja-Ela were escorted to the Ja-Ela Grounds where samples were obtained from them for tests. Authorities believe, these people had contact with the first COVID-19 case detected from the area.
