Ex-Local Government Politician remanded for violating curfew laws

Colombo (News 1st) : A former local government politician from Gampola was arrested by Police on Friday for gathering a group of people in Peradeniya on Thursday night, and thereby violating the curfew and the quarantine laws.

Attorney at Law DIG Ajith Rohana said the suspect was remanded until the 16th of April by court, adding an investigation is underway.

In addition another 07 people were arrested from Trincomalee for violating the curfew orders.

DIG Ajith Rohana urged the general public to be continue to comply with the orders issued by police and added when the curfew is relaxed, only one person from the family should step out to make urgent purchases, if necessary only.
