COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lankan security agencies cracked the whip on curfew violators warning that they would be sent for quarantine centres from Friday. Approximately, 19,000 arrests have been made since the curfew was imposed on March 19, DIG Ajith Rohana told reporters on Thursday, observing the negligence of certain people. Sri Lanka has imposed a lockdown style curfew which is lifted intermittently in certain areas, as the country continues to battle against COVID 19. DIG Rohana who heads the motor traffic range said suspects arrested for travelling between districts without a valid curfew permit will be sent to quarantine centres for 14 days. This will also apply for those misusing curfew permits and the provision to use their Service ID's to travel during the curfew.
