Abuse of a young girl angers residents in Sewanagala

COLOMBO (News1st) : The abuse of a 13-year old girl in Kiriibbanwewa, Sewanagala last week has angered residents who allege that attempts are being made to conceal the incident. "We are informed that attempts are underway to sweep this matter under the carpet," a resident told News1st. The child who had been allegedly abused last Tuesday has been admitted to the Hambantota hospital. Area residents claim that a pradeshiya sabha member from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) party had been involved in this incident. "We support the SLPP. However, we are sad that some SLPP members are conducting themselves in such immoral acts," another resident lamented.
