Police arrest 6850 & impound 1643 vehicles for violating curfew

6850 people have been arrested for violating curfew laws since being imposed on the 20th of this month, the police said. The number of vehicles seized by the police during this period is 1643. Strict legal action will be initiated against those who misuse the mechanisms enforced for the efficient functioning of essential services, the police added. Atalugama in the Kalutara District and Akurana in the Kandy District have been completely sealed off banning any entry or exit from these two areas in order to contain the spread of the virus.
