COLOMBO (News 1st): The US State Department officially announced that the US has decided to provide job opportunities to medical professionals from across the world. The Government Medical Officers Associations expressed these views regarding this announcement yesterday. Editor of the GMOA, Dr Navin De Soysa commenting on the situation said:
"Some countries are employing medical students as doctors. Today the United States of America has announced that they will remove all barriers to enter their country for medical professionals, and asked them to contact the nearest American Embassy. They had to do this because, they didn't foresee the danger, they were not prepared for what was coming, and they did not have a proper plan. They thought that they will be able to resolve this problem within their local health care system."
He further continued to say:
"Now they have been forced to bring medical staff from overseas to try and control the outbreak. We thank our medical officers for their dedication, and for working tirelessly to curb the spread of this virus. The best thing that the general public of the country can do to support them is to stay at home. Also we hope that the medical officials in the country would put our country first and act accordingly."
