COLOMBO (News1st): The government has requested for more robots from a private company which donated the first of its kind to treat suspected COVID – 19 cases at the Homagama Base Hospital.

“…it has been very well designed and developed,” Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said while commenting onthe robot which had been manufactured using materials mostly sourced locally.

Each bed in the Isolation Unit of the hospital will be given an identification number, to which the robot would be sent, to facilitate communication between patients and the medical staff, and to also provide medicines.

This smart appliance can also avoid colliding with objects and persons, thanks to its sensors. The speed of the robot can also be controlled.
