Sri Lankan living in Switzerland dies from COVID-19

The death of the first Sri Lankan National owing to the Coronavirus has been reported from Switzerland, officials said on Friday. Sathasivam Loganathan,(59), who was living in Switzerland has passed away from COVID-19, the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry confirmed. Mr Loganathan who was originally from Punkuduthivu, Jaffna was living with his relatives in Switzerland. He has been advised by the Swiss Police to be self-quarantined and had done so. His family told News1st that there was no contact from him during the last few days. Upon inspection, it had been found that he had passed away yesterday, from COVID-19. The final rites will be carried out today (27). This incident has no connection to the Swiss Pastor who had arrived in the country and was later confirmed to be COVID-19 positive. Meanwhile, reports have emerged of another, 32-year-old, Sri Lankan national who had reportedly passed away owing to COVID-19 in France. However, when questioned about the incident, the Foreign Ministry only confirmed that a Sri Lankan is receiving treatments in the ICU of a hospital in France and said awaiting the details of from officials in France.
