COLOMBO (News1st): Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa announced essentials steps will be taken protect the lives of everyone in battling the contagious disease COVID-19.
“The necessary arrangements have been made to bring back those who had gone on a religious pilgrimage to Dambadiva,” Rajapaksha said.
“Steps are taken to quarantine patients and those who came into contact with an affected person."
He added “Irrespective of the magnitude of the pandemic, and the difficulty of the process, the government is taking measures to alleviate the problems of the people”.
The Prime Minister further outlined the precautionary measures undertaken by the government for the safety of children, holidays were declared for schools and universities. Flights limited flights and gradually suspended all arrivals.
“We undertook these measures by considering the situation in the country and across the globe. This is how we will function in future as well,” he said.
