COLOMBO (News 1st): 18 people were arrested on Wednesday (18th) night, at a hotel in Beruwala for hosting a party while using narcotics and alcohol, despite warnings issued not to gather crowds, due to concerns on COVID-19.

“A group of people from various areas of the country, who met on Facebook, had joined the party in Beruwala, at a time clear warnings have been issued to not hold any public gatherings, as it could hinder the containment efforts of COVID-19,” told Police on Thursday (19th).

The suspects who are charged for the use of narcotics and the non-compliance of Infectious Disease Prevention measures, will be produced before the Kalutara Magistrates Court today.
