Colombo (News 1st) – Unverified information regarding the Corona Virus is being circulated on social media across Sri Lanka. The General public must be vigilant and only trust and act according to clear and verified information released by responsible authorities and trusted news sources.
The Sri Lanka Police has requested the General Public not to be deceived by false reports spreading across social media platforms on the coronavirus situation in Sri Lanka. Police said legal action will be enforced against anyone who spreads false information creating panic in the country.
During a media briefing today, Minister Bandula Gunawardane reaffirmed this stating that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who spreads false rumors. The Minister called on members of the public to remain united to face such a situation.
