5 students linked to J'pura ragging, remanded

Colombo (News 1st) - Five students of the Sri Jayawardenapura university were produced before the Gangodawila Magistrates Court today in connection to the incident where a student of the same university suffered severe injuries after being hit by a tyre. They were further remanded until the 23rd of this month. The 05 students were arrested by the Mirihana Police yesterday. They were produced before Nugegoda Magistrate Mohamed Mihal at 3:30 pm today. Meanwhile, the injured student continues to receive treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital. A spokesperson for the hospital said that the student is showing signs of recovery.
