Thirst for alcohol ends in tragedy

Colombo (News 1st) - An altercation between two groups in Periyamulla, Negombo ended in tragedy as one person succumbed to stab wounds. Sri Lanka Police said 06 people who visited an eatery in the area had made attempts to consume alcohol within the premises. However, the owner and staff had taken measures to prevent them from doing so and a heated exchange turned in to an all-out war inside the business premises. According to law enforcement, the group had attacked the owner of the eatery and his staff with sharp weapons and fled the area. 04 injured men were rushed to the Negombo Hospital and one of them died upon admission. An investigation is underway to locate and arrest the perpetrators.
