Mawanella residents engage in protest over unresolved water issues

COLOMBO (News 1st):- Residents belonging to several villages of the Mawanella divisional secretariat engaged in a protest blocking the Randiwala junction along the Mawanella - Rambukkana main road this morning (March 8). The protest was held to voice concerns that the officials have not yet provided solutions to their water issues. The residents who engaged in the protest were from Randiwala, Owaththa, and Yatiyaawa in Mawanella. The water bodies in the area have all dried up due to the prevailing dry weather. Thereby the area residents had pleaded with the officials to provide them with water through an alternative solution in order to fulfill their daily activities.
