Railway drivers calls off trade union action

Colombo (News 1st) - The Railway engine drivers union has decided to call off a 24 strike following discussions with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. The Railway drivers had earlier decided to abstain from reporting to work from midnight yesterday until midnight today, by going on sick leave. The canceled trade union action was to be launched owing to recent remarks made by Minister Wimal Weerawansa on the railway sector.
