Colombo (News 1st) – The bail application submitted through a motion requesting the release of Ven. Rathkarawwe Jinarathana Thera, the convenor of the inter-university students federation and 21 other university students, was rejected by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s court.

The students were arrested recently for engaging in a protest opposite the UGC and Ministry of Higher Education, in violation of Court orders.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered for the students to be remanded till the 16th of this month.
