Health ministry issues warning on extreme heat

Colombo (News 1st) - The Ministry of Health has urged the public to be vigilant regarding the prevailing extreme heat weather conditions. Senior Epidemiologist at the Epidemiology Unit, Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said children, pregnant women and elderly persons, must pay attention and take necessary precautions. Meanwhile, the Met Department yesterday announced several areas in Western, North Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces and Mannar and Monaragala districts will experience extreme heat weather today. The Department urged the public to stay hydrated, take breaks in the shade as often as possible and limit outdoor activities.
