COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Child Protection Authority states that a decision has been taken to build nine centres around the country to take care of children who are abandoned by their mothers.

President of the Authority, Muditha Widanapathirana says that children aged one could be handed over to these centers.  Over the past few months, many cases of leaving infants by the roadside or murder were reported. This decision was taken in order to minimize such cases and ensure child safety.
