COLOMBO (News 1st) State Minister Shehan Semasinghe states that an inquiry should be made into why the former Government did not launch an investigation into the Airbus scandal. Shehan Semasinghe, State Minister of Development Banking and Loan Schemes had this to say: As the government, our stance on the Airbus deal is that the truth on the matter must be revealed before the general public. Legal proceedings into this have already begun. The legal proceedings have begun and are being carried out without considering who is associated with this crime. Investigations into this were carried out previously. Why was no action instituted against the findings of those investigations? This is a question that lies before the people today. Why didn't the Maithripala Sirisena-Ranil Wickremesinghe governments act on this matter? It is important that we inquire into it. I tell the investigation teams, it is vital that the country is told under whose influence were the investigations halted.
