Accident in Katunayake claims one life and injures 13

COLOMBO (News 1st):- One woman died while 13 others sustained injuries in an accident reported from Heenatiyana, along the Awariwaththa main road in Katunayake last night (February 22), . The victim are members of a group returning from a pilgrimage to Anuradhapura.The driver of the vehicle had reportedly fallen asleep and the vehicle had veered off the road and knocked on a light post on the side of the road. At the time of the accident, 16 individuals were traveling in the cab. The deceased lady succumbed to her injuries after she was admitted to the Minuwangoda hospital along with 14 others for treatment. The 84-year-old lady has been identified as a resident of Heenatiyana. The body currently lies at the Minuwangoda hospital and the Katunayake police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
