Four arrested for illegally harvesting sea cucumber

COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Navy arrested four persons who were illegally harvesting sea cucumber in the seas off Allaipiddy, Jaffna today (23nd February). The Navy arrested 04 suspects for engaging in diving to illegally harvest sea cucumber. Along with the suspects 2450 illegally harvested sea cucumbers, two dinghies, and diving gears were also seized by the Navy. The apprehended persons have been identified as residents of Gurunagar, between the ages of 33 to 46. The suspects together with sea cucumber, two dinghies, and other diving gear were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Jaffna for onward investigations.
