Tourist arrivals in January drops by 6.5%

Colombo (News 1st) - Tourist arrivals in the country recorded 228,434 during the month of January, a decline of 6.5% from same month of last year. A report released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority showed that there was a surge in tourist arrivals from the European region. According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority India, China, United Kingdom, Russian Federation, and Germany are the top 5 sources of tourist arrivals in the month of January. Regional breakdown of tourist traffic into Sri Lanka: 1) Europe - 113,601 - 50% 2) Asia and Pacific - 92,201 - 40% 3) America - 14,224 - 6% 4) Middle east - 7,111 - 3% 5) Africa - 1,297 - 1%
