Colombo (News 1st): When will the general elections take place if Parliament is dissolved between the 2nd and 6th of March? Convener of the Voice Against Corruption Wasantha Samarasinghe expressed the following views in Nochchiyagama today.
"The government is trying to win votes using the tears of the families of the April 21st attacks. Violent crimes of this nature should not take place again. This is what they are trying to do. If the election is held on April 25th, April 21st will mark one year since the attacks. We wish to ask President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to reveal what action has been taken regarding the attacks over the last three months. What they are trying to do is to remind the public of Zaharan's bombs in April. The government's ulterior motive for conducting the election in April is to use the tears of the people. If the government can issue a gazette on the Sainthamaruthu Urban Council, then why can't they issue a gazette on the prices of corn? There are delays in issuing such gazettes. The government is doing what they want to do."
