Man arrested for impersonating BOI Chairman

COLOMBO (News 1st):- A man who impersonated the Chairman of the Board of Investment has been arrested at a restaurant in Slave Island. The police said that the suspect, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time had hit the owner of the restaurant as a result of an escalated dispute. Following this incident, the suspect had arrived at the Slave Island police along with his girlfriend and another individual to lodge a complaint on the matter. The police said that when he arrived to lodge the complaint, they had taken measures to hospitalize the suspect since he had also sustained injuries. In police investigations, it was revealed that the said suspect was presenting himself under a fake identity and there was an assault involved after inspecting CCTV visuals. The suspect was arrested while receiving treatment at a private hospital last night (February 15) for impersonation, lodging a fake complaint and assault. He is due to be produced before the Fort Magistrates Court today (February 16).
