COLOMBO (News 1st):- Eleven Indian fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing in Sri Lankan territorial waters have been arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy.
During a special operation carried out by the Navy, the 11 fishermen were arrested when they had attempted to enter the seas north of Analathivu island. The Navy had also seized three trawlers belonging to the fishermen during the operation.
Following a medical check-up, the Indian fisherman are due to be handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Jaffna through the Department of Coastal Conservation for future legal action.
