Colombo (News 1st): Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises MP Sunil Handunnetti today noted that it is impossible for the parliamentarian to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the forensic audit reports issued regarding the Central Bank Bond Scam. He pointed out that this is because there are 5 Forensic audit reports and 10,000 pages of annexures.
He stated that it wouldn’t be easy for the MPs to understand the reports before the Adjournment debated which is scheduled to be held on the 18th and the 19th of February.
Handunnetti pointed out that the Forensic audit report was compiled following instructions by the Presidential Commission and the COPE and that they were looking into the possibility of creating a summary report.
However, the COPE Chairman noted that this was not possible as they could not convene the committee due to the adjournment of the parliament. The Forensic Audit reports of the CBSL will be taken up for discussion at the COPE in the near future, the MP assured.
He added that the Committee on Public Finance, which is headed by MP M.A. Sumanthiran is looking i9nto the forensic audits of the CBSL.
