Colombo (News 1st) – The General Amnesty period that was declared by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa for tri forces deserters is set to conclude at midnight today.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces declared a week-long general amnesty period for Tri-Service absentees to coincide with the 72nd National Independence Day.
Army spokesperson Brig. Chandana Wickremesinghe noted that 6,259 tri forces personnel had rejoined their service over the past 6 days. This includes 6 army officers, 4528 army personnel of other ranks, 707 personnel attached to the Sri Lanka Navy and 1031 Sri Lanka Air Force personnel.
