Colombo (NEws 1st): How does the JVP view the struggle to secure nominations in the upcoming general election? Expressing his views the former provincial councillor of the JVP, Wasantha Samarasinghe noted that some urge that intellectuals should be appointed. He pointed out that only a parliamentary position is equipped with comfort and luxury and those who claimed they were intellects, are the ones responsible for the Central Bank bond scam and the controversial Airbus transactions. Samarasinghe recalled the dozens of times such intellects defrauded the general public. Therefore, he said appointing such intellectuals will not solve this problem. He noted that those who highlight the issues of the general public should be appointed to parliament. He added that many games are being played to establish power within their parties and some are leaving their political parties to form alliances to form a government. He went onto note that there are claims that the SLPP and the SLFP are trying to form a national government. He stated that they are urging the general public to think wisely and vote for only the good candidates.
