Basil Rajapaksa returns to the country

Colombo (News 1st) - Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa returned to the island earlier today. The National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Basil Rajapaksa, was welcomed at the Katunayake Airport by a group including State Minister Nimal Lanza. Responding to questions by journalists, Basil Rajapaksa noted that the President and PM are ready to dissolve Parliament in March and that a strong Parliament is vital to executing the plans of the administration. He added that the SLPP must work together with other parties to secure the majority in Parliament. When questioned about the alliance between the SLPP and the SLFP, Rajapaksa stated that an alliance has not yet been formed, and went onto state that they would choose a winning symbol for the alliance. Asked if he was preparing to return to active politics and contest the General Election, Basil Rajapaksa simply responded with a "No!"
