Thalatha questioned about Vajira's secretive meeting

Colombo (News 1st): A group of UNP MPs held a gathering at a restaurant in Colombo. Out of the 52 people who were invited to this meeting, only 17 MPS attended the meeting which was organized by UNP MP Vajira Abeywardana yesterday (Jan 27). However, no views were expressed to the media. Journalists raised questions about this meeting which was organized by Vajira Abeywardana at a press conference which was held at the opposition leader's office today (Jan 28).

Journalist: Didn't you receive an invitation to this meeting? MP Thalatha Athukorale: No it's like this, we also have friends who we spend time with in the evening, they must have also met like this. I wasn't informed of this. Journalist: Don't you think they discussed party problems at this meeting? MP Thalatha Athukorale: Do such things need to be discussed at various places like that? If we need to, we will have our party meeting. We discuss a lot at these meetings, don't you know? Journalist: This was not just any gathering but a meeting with powerful people in the party. MP Thalatha Athukorale: Who are these powerful people you speak of? Journalist: Vajira Abeywardana MP Thalatha Athukorale: Is he a powerful person? Journalist: Navin Dissanayake MP Thalatha Athukorale: Is he also a powerful person? How do you measure that authority? I don't see them as superior people.
