6 more patients being tested for the Coronavirus

Colombo (News 1st) - The health ministry says Suspected cases of coronavirus to be moved to the hospitals in Ragama, Gampaha, Negombo, Kandy, Karapitiya, Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Kurunegala, Ratnapura, Batticaloa & Badulla in addition to IDH in Colombo. The Chinese woman diagnosed with Coronavirus in Sri Lanka is currently receiving special treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases in Angoda.A 43-year old Chinese woman who had arrived in Sri Lanka from China's Province of Hubei was admitted to the IDH hospital last Saturday due to high fever. Blood samples showed that the tourist had contracted Coronavirus which has claimed several lives since its outbreak in China. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry stated that it would be carrying out tests and inquiries at the areas visited by the woman as well as the people who had associated with her. Director of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said that individuals who had associated with the patient should remain cautious of their health for at least two weeks. In addition, the National Medical Institute says that tests are being carried out on blood samples of six patients who are suspected of having contracted the disease. Director of the National Medical Institute Dr.Jayaruwan Bandara stated that steps would be taken to further strengthen the tests being carried out into the virus.
