Reuters: China said on Tuesday (January 21) it will attend the emergency World Health Organisation (WHO) meeting this week on the coronavirus outbreak. Speaking at a regular news conference in Beijing, foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said that China will "share with every country, the experts, and the WHO information about the epidemic and study and discuss the epidemic." Geng added that authorities in Wuhan have now introduced controls on people leaving the city. The WHO on Tuesday said that the new coronavirus was likely to spread to other parts of China and possibly other countries in the coming days. The outbreak which began in the central city of Wuhan has killed several and infected several hundreds according to Chinese authorities. The scare brought back bad memories of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), another coronavirus that broke out in China in 2002/2003, resulting in the death of nearly 800 people in a global pandemic.
