Theives in Baddegama target vegetable shops over Banks and Jewellery shops

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A rather unusual form of theft was reported from Baddegama early this morning. A band of robbers broke into a local store and stole the vegetables, red onions and imported onions, all which are currently expensive vegetables in the local market. In addition, they also looted the donation box at the store. The owner of the shop stated that they are driven to a state where they have to protect vegetables instead of banks and other valuable shops. He added that the red onions in the store were stolen by the thieves. Another local store located close by met the same fate and the only difference was, apart from the vegetables, Rs 10,000 had been taken too. The Baddegama Police is conducting investigations into these events.
