US-Iran tension: Sajith Premadasa warns the Sri Lankan government

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa issued a warning in Meerigama yesterday (January 12). Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa noted that tension between the US and Iran would adversely affect Sri Lanka if it is to escalate into a war. Sajith Premadasa added that 10% of Sri Lankan tea is exported to Iran while a number of Sri Lankans are employed in the Middle East. He stated that Sri Lanka should be prepared for the worst outcomes of this tension. He stated, however, the government has considered these matters trivial.
