Three top diplomats from China, US and Russia to arrive in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st):- Against a backdrop where the US plans to restart a forum for economic talks with China, several high-level diplomats from Russia, China, and the USA are to arrive in Sri Lanka. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is due to arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow (January 13). The Ministry of Foreign Relations noted that the visiting Russian Foreign Minister was to meet with the Sri Lankan President and the several high ranking officials of the government. Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi is also due to arrive in the country tomorrow (January 13). The Chinese FM is due to hold bilateral discussions with the President, Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Meanwhile, the US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells is also due to arrive in Sri Lanka tonight (January 12). The US Department of State says the Assistant Secretary of State will meet with senior government officials and members of civil society to discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues, including shared interests in a free and open Indo-Pacific region that fosters prosperity, democracy, justice, and human rights. Alice G Wells will also travel to India and Pakistan following her tour to Sri Lanka.
