Judicial Service Commission to investigate three judges allegedly involved in Ranjan Ramanayake's recordings

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Judicial Service Commission said that they have received a number of complaints regarding three judges involved in the controversial phone conversations with MP Ranjan Ramanayake. The Judicial Service Commission stated that discussions were held in this regard and action will be taken regarding the judges based on the relevant procedures. Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya is the Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission and it consists of two other commissioners. The Colombo Crimes Division said that telephone conversations of MP Ranjan Ramanayake have been sent to the Government Analyst. A senior official stated that they have been directed to submit a full report on the incident. He said further investigations will be carried out based on these reports. News 1st inquired from the Government Analyst department regarding the incident. An official of the department said that they have received a part of the audio recordings. He also stated that steps will be taken to investigate these telephone conversations with the Audio Analysis Laboratory. The official said that the report will be sent to the relevant authorities to continue their investigations. Several political figures shared their thoughts regarding this issue: UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella stated that the government came into power to establish a "Dharmadveepa" has prioritized in slinging mud towards their opposition. He added that the prices of the essential food items are over the charts and requested the government to fulfil their election promises. Namal Karunaratne, National Organizer of the All Ceylon Farmers Federation noted that with the leak of Ranjan Ramanayake's telephone recordings people have forgotten about the important matters. UNP MP Shantha Bandara stated that with the exposure of these recordings public are disappointed about the politicians and it would be an issue. Asela Sampath, Chairman of the Restaurant Owners' Association of Sri Lanka shared that it is high time people forget about the audiotapes and focus on having three balanced meals for them.
