Colombo (News 1st): The bail application filed seeking the release of IGP Pujith Jayasundara, who was sent on compulsory leave, and former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando will be taken up for inquiry on the 10th of February.
The order was made by Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakeratne. Both Hemasiri Fernando and Pujith Jayasundara are currently in remand custody. Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris appearing for the Attorney General filed a written objection against the granting of bail.
The High Court Judge ordered the petitioners to file their counter objections on the 10th of February. IGP Pujith Jayasundara, who was sent on compulsory leave, and Ex-Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando are charged with failing in their duties to prevent the April 21st attacks.
