Colombo (News 1st): The Marine Environment Protection Authority says, around 238,000 kilograms of waste accumulates in coastal areas every week. General Manager of the Marine Environment Protection Authority Turney Pradeep Kumara says this statistic had been revealed following a study that was conducted.
He added, nondegradable waste such as plastic and polythene also accumulates in coastal areas, among other waste.
