Discussion on parliamentary committees on the 7th January

COLOMBO (News 1st):- A discussion to appoint new members for a number of parliamentary select committees including the COPE is due to be held on January 7th within the parliamentary premises. The discussion due to be held under the auspices of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya will be joined by party leaders. The discussion will also focus on filling vacant positions of the Public Finance Committee, Public Accounts Committee, and several other committees. With President Gotabaya Rajapaksa ending the parliamentary rounds, 10 committees were abolished. The government faction states that a majority membership of these committees should be given over to their party while the opposition suggests that the previous members should be reappointed once again for these positions.
