Parliament to convene today

Colombo (News 1st) - The 4th session of the 8th Parliament of Sri Lanka is due to commence at 9am today (Jan 3). The sessions will be chaired by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Parliamentary sessions will be temporarily suspended after the President’s throne speech. Parliament is due to reconvene at 1pm thereafter. During the afternoon session, Sajith Premadasa is to be appointed as the leader of the opposition. Parliament was prorogued by an extraordinary gazette notification as per the powers of the President on December 2nd.
