Farmlands flooded after Deduru Oya overflowed

Colombo (News 1st): Many farmlands in areas including Chilaw, Maanuwangama, and Ambepitiya have been destroyed by the inclement weather conditions. Our correspondent said that farmlands in many villages were completely flooded after the Deduruoya overflowed. The farmers request for authorities to provide compensation for the damaged crops as soon as possible. News 1st inquired about the situation from the Assistant Director of the Puttlam District Disaster Management Centre Ranjith Alahakoon on the matter. He said that the Agrarian Services Department is gathering information on the damage caused to provide the farmers with compensation.
