COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Surakimu Sri Lanka Organization convened a media briefing in Ragama today (December 26). Sanjeewa Samarasinghe, National Organizer of Surakimu Sri Lanka People's Movement: "When I served as the media secretary for Sarath Fonseka, I asked him, '' General, who murdered Lasantha Wickremethunga?" While Sarath Fonseka served as the Army commander, one of his relative's wedding took place at the army headquarters. They brought in 48 air conditioners for the outdoor wedding. Within one hour, all 48 machines were burnt. The cost was borne by the Army headquarters. Are these not national crimes?" Lalith Gunewardena, President of the Surakimu Sri Lanka People's Movement noted that it was apparent for everyone that a number of religious figures participating in the political arena in the recent past. He added that the country has responsible leaders and authorities and they requested them to detach themselves from these religious figures. In addition, he requested all politicians to not allow Buddhist monks to get involved in politics and to refrain from giving them nominations.
