Colombo (News 1st): Senior Advisor on Economic Affairs to the Prime Minister, Ajith Nivard Cabraal has met with senior officials of the Central Bank and commercial banks at Temple Trees yesterday. The post on Ajith Nivard Cabraal's Facebook page said, the decision to provide Small and Medium Enterprises with a capital moratorium and measures to address the issues that may arise due to this decision, were discussed during the meeting. His post on Facebook further added, the heads of commercial banks had agreed to stop the auctioning of property, if the customer continuously pays interest without any delay. Opposition MP Wijepala Hettiarachchi expressed the following views during a media briefing today, in this regard. UNP MP Wijepala Hettiarachchi noted that Ajith Nivard Cabraal's sister served as a director at Perpetual Treasuries Limited and that is why they question the present government, as to why they hesitate to punish the perpetrators of the Central Bank bond scam. He noted that if Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa appoints such individuals as senior advisors to manage the Central Bank and commercial banks once again, he will be defeated. Therefore, the parliamentarian urged the Prime Minister to refrain from appointing such shameless individuals as advisors.
