COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Department of Meteorology states that the prevailing rains are expected to reduce from tomorrow (December 25). However, the lives of the people affected by the heavy showers are yet to return to normalcy.
A house in Sinhapura, Hali-Ela was caught in a landslide 4 days ago. The entry road to the village is still blocked as a result.
The Huruluweva and Galenbindunuwewa that hasn’t had adequate water for years was seen with ample water yesterday (December 23).
The Huruluwewa tank that has 16 gates is able to discharge 631 cubic feet of water per second now.
Meanwhile, the sluice gates of the Kala Weva that were opened a few days ago was closed at 4L00 am today. Our correspondent stated that many branch tanks of the Kalaweva are overflowing.
