Colombo (News 1st): Representatives of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party met in Homagama yesterday (December 20). Speaking after the meeting Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera expressed these views.
"After the victory, some of these leaders now hold a different opinion about us. The Sri Lanka Freedom party was the deciding factor at this year's election in which Gotabaya Rajapaksa emerged victorious. Now after this victory we are facing many of these issues. Funds amounting to Rs. 2 million has been disbursed to the Gramaseva divisions. Now my head is aching because the organizers in these areas are calling me and asking as to why they aren't included in these activities. They are complaining of being treated differently after working tirelessly to ensure the victory of Gotabaya Rajapaksa. We are against the program of demoting the Sri Lanka Freedom Party to a third-grade party. As the general secretary of the party, I must state this clearly because I am responsible to the Sri Lanka Freedom party supporters of the country, and Dayasiri Jayasekera was the one who signed all of these agreements."
Minister Mahinda Amaraweera also speaking to the media noted that there are many issues today, one is the issue that our local government councillors are not being involved in the development drive of the government. He said the district organizers have informed them that their local government councillors are not been involved in these development activities. He noted that they are facing criticism from the organizers in the party as per the party mechanism on certain issues regarding the party. Amaraweera added that in the future they will hold discussions with the President and the Prime Minister. He noted that they hope to discuss the issues faced by their party activists, organizers, MPs and Ministers and get some concessions from the President and Prime Minister.
