SSP Shani Abeysekera files a FR petition at the Supreme Court

Colombo (News 1st): SSP Shani Abeysekera has filed a fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court demanding that he be reappointed as the Director of the CID. The FR application requests for the transfer given to Abeysekera as the Personal Assistant to the Southern Province DIG, be cancelled, pointing out the transfer is a demotion to the former CID Chief. Shani Abeysekera in the FR application request for an order to be made on the respondents to pay Rs. 10 Million to him as compensation. 17 people including the Acting IGP C.D. Wickremeratne, IGP Pujith Jayasundara, who was sent on compulsory leave, the Chairman and Members of the National Police Commission, present Director of the CID and Defence Secretary were named as respondents in the case.
